Avatar 2 | Welcome
Producer Confirms: There Will Be No Avatar 2 Until 2016 Fans of James Cameron’s 'Avatar' may have to wait a little longer than expected for the second instalment of the 3D fantasy adventure as producers confirm that it will be four years before the next film is released. Speaking at a screening for ‘Titanic 3D’ producer Jon Landau who has worked with Cameron on both projects confirmed it would be a long four year wait before we return to the alien world of Pandora. This would give the film a release date of around 2016, seven years after the original. Landau told Entertainmentwise: “We are excitedly working on it as we speak and it will be four or so years before it will be out." The 2009 film starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington smashed Box Office records when it was first released. Following its global success James Cameron confirmed in 2010 that there would be a second and third film to follow. At this time the director signalled that they were aiming for a late 2014 release for Avatar 2 but since then the date has been pushed back further. Despite the long period between the two releases, producer Jon Landau is confident that it will be even better than the first, especially with the advances in film technology. He said: “We are excited and we have a lot of the same team working with us, some great design and ideas and some great themes hopefully.” The producer was in London to give a preview of 'Titanic 3D' which will be released in cinemas in April this year.
